Our mission was to create a completely new solution for Berlin Südkreuz with fresh, unrestrained thinking. With "The Flow," we introduced an artistic line that intuitively guides travelers and visually unifies the station—an implementation of this scale and ambition was something completely new at a German train station.
Developed and realized in collaboration with the architects of Schmidt & Pütz, the concept symbolizes the ideal path through the station, using bold colors that extend across all levels, from the S-Bahn to the long-distance platforms. Achieving this vision required extensive construction planning, material and color testing at the manufacturers, and rigorous safety checks and certifications. The result is a groundbreaking installation that daily guides over 200,000 travelers in the upper Ringbahn hall, combining functionality with bold aesthetics. In 2022, this courage to think beyond convention was recognized with the German Design Award, Special Mention.
